seems like he doesn't understand history or the details of what's going on. geirOn Jun 29, 2009, at 2:51 PM, Davanum Srinivas wrote: > Anyone read this yet? > http://www.jroller.com/neugens/entry/apache_c... > > thanks, > dims > > -- > Davanum Srinivas :: http://davanum.wordpress.com
No, it seems like he understands it precisely, and the blog entry is simply an FSF troll. The detail he sadly doesn't understand is that even another GPL solution would encounter the same fate as Harmony, unless it is derived from OpenJDK, which is the converse of Free Software.Geir Magnusson Jr. wrote: > seems like he doesn't understand history or the details of what's going on. > > geir > > On Jun 29, 2009, at 2:51 PM, Davanum Srinivas wrote: > >> Anyone read this yet? >> http://www.jroller.com/neugens/entry/apache_c... >> >> thanks, >> dims >> >> -- >> Davanum Srinivas :: http://davanum.wordpress.com > > >
I'll continue to believe he's clueless. I greatly look forward to his interaction with Oracle. After all, OpenJDK is free now. geirOn Jun 29, 2009, at 3:05 PM, William A. "The TCK is an issue, but I'm more inclined to read your quotation like "If you don't give us the code, fine, give us the TCK so we can make the code". But we got the code, so the TCK is just political fluff now. " Mario Torre Clueless or calculating, the above statement tells me to steer far clear of Mario Torre. It appears that in his world view, principles be damned and it's perfectly acceptable to break contracts and screw people over for personal gain. Regardless of personal opinions on the GPL vs AL, his is a selfish & self centered attitude. Integrity and principle matter, regardless of whether short term personal interests are served or not...
